Your testicular ultrasound scan

This scan is performed by a qualified sonographer with diagnostic scanning experience.

It can help to identify conditions such as:

• varicoceles (varicose veins)
• unexplained swellings and testicular masses
• epidydimal cysts
• hydroceles (fluid)
• scrotal hernias

Your trousers and underwear will need to be lowered to expose the scrotal area. Tissue will cover everything except the affected area that is being examined.

You will receive a written report of your scan results from the clinic providing the scan. You may need to follow up with a urologist / andrologist for further medical advice. If the sonographer recommends a medical follow-up, they can email a copy of your report to your healthcare provider at no extra cost if you provide their contact details.

If you are already under the care of a healthcare provider, do not book this scan. You should discuss any need for a scan with your healthcare provider.
